Valldemossa is only 18 km away from Palma (tour of 3 or 4 hours will be perfect)

This itinerary takes visitors around the streets, plazas and most picturesque spots in the village of Valldemossa, an introduction to the places that witnessed French writer George Sand and Polish composer Frederick Chopin’s stay on Mallorca.

The celebrated couple resided in this Mallorcan village during the winter of 1838-39. Its landscapes, peoples and customs made a strong impression on the writer, who would set them down years later in a book entitled ‘A Winter in Mallorca(1841).

During their visit, the couple stayed in cells at the Royal Carthusian Monastery, admission to which is not included in the tour.

Do you know why Hope is always in green colour or why the martyrs always dressed in red in Christian iconography? In this excursion  you can discover how the colours and the numbers are linked whit the circle of life of the humans or the nature.

The tour will take us through a city that looks towards the sea. You will be walking on the oldest streets through the most important part of this charming city. You’ll be imagining how  was the type of life of people dedicated to diferent activities ( merchants, jewish, noblety, pirates ,corsairs…) in each of the four separated quarters 700 years ago. Those endogamic groups left us a very rich heritage that we admire today.

Miguel Corral has a very diverse and rich background, after  travelling extensively and
before becoming a Licensed Local Tour Guide of Balearic Islands, Miguel obtained the University degree of Técnico de Empresas y Actividades Turísticas by the Escuela Oficial de Turismo . He was living and studying in London, Paris and Florence.

He has the certificate of proficiency in English EFL. By Cambridge University and a certificate of Lingua e cultura Italiana given by the Università di Firenze.

He continuously assist to different update courses organized by local institutions as the “Jornades Internacionals d´Estudis Gaudinistes in Palma” Juny 2002, the Diploma of the Fundación Bmé. March Severa of Modern Sculpture, (May 2003) The Municipality of Palma (Palma Monumental, February 2004), The Fundación Yannick & Ben Jakober (June 2005), The Fundación Pilar & Joan Mirò of Palma (January 2006), IBATUR (2003, 2004.2005, 2006), and the Institut d’Estrategia Turística de Balaears (March and November 2006).

His degrees in Humanities and Tourism Management, combined with his background and passion for his job have turned him into a very experienced licensed guide in Mallorca. His main areas of expertise are architecture-related fields (urban planning, walking tours, etc.) though he is also comfortable with art, history and philosophy has an intimate knowledge of Tramontana range of mountains Natural Park
